FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to operation, control testing and diagnosing ICEs. Proposed method consists in setting ICE crankshaft rate rpm, shutting down all cylinders, measuring crankshaft rpm in time interval from shutting down cylinders to ICE complete stop, comparing measured rpm with reference rpm and estimating exhaust stage health. Cylinder are shut down by electromagnetic injector switch at permanent rated rpm of crankshaft. New ICE crankshaft rpm is taken to be reference rpm.

EFFECT: determination of ICE exhaust under all operating conditions.
