FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: apparatus can be used for flaw detection of optical materials based on to such factors as bubble content, unstriae and face cracks. The apparatus has a laser light source, a mirror through which focused laser light is directed on the inspected object and a condenser which collects the diffusively reflected signal onto a photodetector. The output of the photodetector is connected to inputs of a first generator through two coincidence circuits. Second inputs of the coincidence circuit are connected to outputs of a control unit. The output of the first generator is connected to the input of the laser light source and through a third coincidence circuit to the complementing input of a counter. The second input of the third coincidence circuit and the reset input of the counter are connected to outputs of the control unit. The overflow output of the counter is connected to the rest input of a flip-flop and its set input is connected to the output of control unit. The output of the flip-flop is connected through a fourth coincidence circuit to the complementing input of a result counter. The second input of the fourth coincidence circuit is connected to the output of a stable frequency generator. The rest and reverse inputs of the result counter are connected to outputs of a control circuit. The output of the result counter is connected through a fifth and a sixth coincidence circuit to units for isolating fractures of the front and back surfaces of the object, the outputs of which are outputs of the entire device, and second inputs of the fifth and sixth coincidence circuits are connected to outputs of the control unit.

EFFECT: wider field of use of devices for controlling quality of glass.
