FIELD: optical measurements, applicable for determination of distances of the order of tens- hundreds of meters at civil engineering and prospecting work. SUBSTANCE: the ranger uses a laser beam generating unit and a reflected beam receiving unit installed for relative angular or linear displacement of their optical axes in the same plane, as well as a unit of relative displacement of the mentioned optical axes, range finding unit and a control unit. Use is made of the geometric method of distance measurement in combination with scanning of the directivity pattern of the laser beam generating unit or receiving unit of the beam reflected in the plane passing through the sighting point on the object the distance to which is to be measured. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of measurements and comparatively simplified design. 6 dwg
