FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processing of mica, particularly, to method of its splitting, and may be used for producing plate-like material in fabrication of mica papers, dyes, polymer fillers, cosmetics, wallpaper, and paint-and-lacquer materials. Mica is splitted by subjecting it to variable electric field effects at 50 Hz-frequency, current density of 0.01-0.1 A/cm2, and fluid temperature of 40-100°C. Note here that power lines of electric field are directed along the plane of mica particles cleavage. Thereafter, mica is disintegrated into plates, their size being governed by definite application.
EFFECT: higher degree of splitting.
