FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: counter-current convective mass exchange is conducted between flows of pulp and extractant in three adjacent channels with permeable walls in creating alternating pressure differences there between for multiple transverse cross-exchange between flows of liquid phase portions to produce extracted pulp and extractant. Extracted pulp is thickened in convective mass exchange by decreasing volume throughput pump channel outlet relative to that at channel inlet by 1.0-3.0 times. Relationship between extractant volume throughput and that of extracted pulp is set to 1.0-2.0. Relationship between volume of extracted pulp and extracted pulp inlet volume throughput is set to at least 1 s. Produced liquid phase is mixed with fresh extractant. Proposed unit comprises shell-and-tube extractor with extractant channels composed of two convectively permeable tubes arranged inside the shell parallel about its axis, displacement pumps to feed and discharge pump and to feed extractant equipped with volume throughput variators, pulsation system including valves at extractant feed and discharge branch pipes, and control computer to allow their alternating opening and closing. Every said extractant channel may be composed of two and more convectively-permeable tubes intercommunicated at shell inlet and outlet. Extractor inner tubes may be composite with detachable convectively-permeable cylindrical elements. Size of holes in said tubes makes 1.0-10.0 mcm. Proposed plant may be composed of several interconnected shell-and-tube extractors with shared above described components, and common computer.
