FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a light-emitting device, having: a LED chip (10), having a first surface (12), a second surface (14) and at least one lateral face (16) which connects the first and second surfaces (12, 14). Furthermore, the LED chip has a light-polarising layer (20), a light-blocking layer (30) and a light-reflecting layer (40). The light-polarising layer (20) lies on the first surface (12), the light-blocking layer (30) lies on at least one lateral face (16), and the light-reflecting layer (40) lies on the second surface (14) of the LED chip. A light source is also provided, which has a light-emitting device according to the invention, and a method of providing polarised light from the LED chip.
EFFECT: high illumination efficiency.
