FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: proposed mechanism consists of cylinder block, piston, piston pin and con-rod. Gears are fitted on engine shaft under every cylinder. Piston with con-rod and two moving racks arranged on both sides of engine shaft reciprocate along cylinder axis. One rack disengages from gear while second rack engages with gear on engine shaft at piston TDC and BDC in traverse direction relative to con-rod displacement axis. Engine shaft master cam orients racks with the number of teeth multiple of four and follows them in fixed position relative to gear while piston stroke is limited by con-rod stop.
EFFECT: decreased mechanical losses.
