SUBSTANCE: device and method are meant for checking registration between a registration mark and a three-dimensional structure in the fabric of material for packaging containers. A focused light beam is directed towards intersection with said structure. The structure is identified by triangulation in three-dimensional measurement, and the registration mark is registered via two-dimensional measurement in the dispersed light from the light source. The method and device can used to control a unit for repeated cutting or perforation of the fabric of material used for packaging.
EFFECT: enabling monitoring and controlling of registration between a printed image and three-dimensional structures.
