SUBSTANCE: invention may be used to assess the level of residual and dynamic internal elastic stresses of ferromagnetic material structures, also to control mechanical stresses of manifold pipelines. The method to optimise magnetisation current when controlling mechanical stresses by the method of Barkhausen noises makes it possible to increase accuracy by means of measurement of Barkhausen noise EMF parameters under different specified currents of magnetisation in the entire range of values of the controlled parameter due to multiple measurements in the control zone, to eliminate influence at the result of measurement of explored object surface condition, availability of strain hardening and microdefects.
