FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of treating a water stream from a Fischer-Tropsch reaction. The method involves feeding a water stream containing organic by-products into a distillation or stripping column, collecting the distillate from the column which is rich in alcohols containing 1-8 carbon atoms, feeding the acid-containing water stream from the bottom part of the distillation column into an electrodialysis cell and obtaining two output steams: a water stream rich in organic acids containing 1-8 carbon atoms and a purified water stream having low content of acids.
EFFECT: use of the invention increases degree of purity of the water stream.
