FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: optical system provides output of optical radiation into space, irradiation of a remote object in space and detection of radiation reflected from the object. The optical radiation consists of a plurality of non-overlapping laser beams generated by an optical transmitter based on a fibre-optic laser unit with a discrete series of spectral frequencies based on dense wave division multiplexing. The object is irradiated with a composite radiation spot from non-overlapping different-frequency laser beams generated by the optical configuration tool of the transmitter. Radiation reflected from the object is detected selectively at each frequency using an optical detector based on a fibre-optic photodiode unit, at frequencies of the optical transmitter.
