SUBSTANCE: method of notifying a host computer of low battery charge in hand-held wireless devices involves: displaying an estimate on the touch-sensitive surface of an interactive whiteboard, receiving estimation responses by a host computer from wireless devices, monitoring the battery status for each wireless device through regular intervals during estimation in response to status requests, in each interval of sending a battery status message from each wireless device to the host computer.

EFFECT: broader functional capabilities owing to detection of remote units with a low battery charge.
