FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: controlled introduction of grey rod assemblies into a reactor provides for control of speed of variation of capacity produced by a reactor, and reactivity control when generating full power. Each assembly of grey rods comprises a lengthy tubular element, the primary neutron absorber arranged in the specified absorber of neutrons of the tubular element, containing an absorber material, preferably, tungsten, having microscopical capture cross-section with the absorber of 2200 m/s of neutrons equal to 10-30 barn. The inner support pipe may be located between the primary absorber and the tubular element as the secondary absorber for improvement of neutrons absorption, exhaustion of the absorber, weight of the assembly and characteristics of assembly heat recovery.
