FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method using magnetic resonance involves applying radio-frequency excitation in the region (14) of investigation, measuring the magnetic resonance signal formed by the applied radio-frequency excitation in an object (16) in the region of investigation, monitoring the radio-frequency parameter during application and evaluating safety of the object based on the monitoring. The magnetic resonance safety monitor (40) has an analyser (42, 44, 46, 50) which is configured to (i) receive the radio-frequency signal during excitation of magnetic resonance, (ii) extract the radio-frequency parameter from the received radio-frequency signal, and (iii) evaluate safety of the object based on the extracted radio-frequency parameter; and an adjustment module (54) which is configured to adjust magnetic resonance excitation in response to the evaluation (iii) which indicates a potentially hazardous condition.
EFFECT: high safety during surgical procedures controlled by obtaining images using magnetic resonance.
