SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of accessing a channel in a wireless local area network, wherein: an access point (AP) transmits an operation element for setting up or switching several channels to at least one station in a basic service set (BSS), wherein the operation element includes a primary channel field which indicates a primary channel, a secondary channel field which indicates a secondary channel, and a channel width field which indicates bandwidth of the primary channel and the secondary channel; the access point (AP) determines whether the primary channel is free during a first interval; if the primary channel is free, the access point (AP) determines whether the secondary channel is free during a second interval; and the access point (AP) transmits data using the primary channel and the secondary channel to at least one station in the BSS if the primary channel and the secondary channel are free.
