FIELD: printing.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a security element for a security document. The security element for a security document, such as banknotes, identity card or other similar security documents, has a translucent substrate on which first surface there is at least one first security feature, and on its second, opposite surface there is at least one second security feature, and the first security feature has the opaque image forming basic elements separated from each other that are arranged in the form of a raster, and at least a part of which on the directed from the translucent substrate the first elements reproducing information are located, which are contrasting in colour with the image forming basic elements, and the second security feature has the second elements reproducing information which are located overlapping the image forming basic elements and which protrude sideways beyond at least one side of the corresponding image forming basic element and contrast in colour with the image forming basic elements, so that when viewing the security element to the light from one of its sides the image forming basic elements and the second elements reproducing information are visible, and on the other, opposite side of the security element the image forming basic elements are visible, as well as the first elements reproducing information and those parts of the second elements reproducing information that protrude sideways beyond the edges of the image forming basic elements, and the combination of the first elements reproducing information and the combination of the second elements reproducing information is visually perceived in the form of at least one alphanumeric character and/or logo and/or at least one graphic image.

EFFECT: improvement of the security element by increasing the level of protection from counterfeiting provided by it.
