FIELD: protective devices.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a security element for a security document comprising a substrate, a metal layer applied to a substrate and forming, in at least one first region, the first pattern visible in transmitted light, such as the first pattern formed by the metallization and/or demetallization of the substrate, a transparent interference layer, preferably goniochromatic, such as a layer of liquid crystals supported on a substrate and disposed in at least one second region separate from the first portion, an absorbent auxiliary layer, preferably of a dark color, enabling it to render visible in reflected light at least one second pattern with a transparent interference layer, due to the absorbing nature of the background located behind the transparent interference layer, said second pattern being formed by the contrast between the combination of the auxiliary layer with the transparent interference layer and the metallized portion of the metal layer, or between the combination of the auxiliary layer with the transparent interference layer and the surrounding space at the location of the demetallized portion of the metal layer, the auxiliary layer being located substantially outside the first region.
EFFECT: invention relates to a security element for a protected document.
