FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: items from platinum or platinum-based alloys are exposed to chemical-thermal treatment in environment of carbon-containing material, at the same time chemical-thermal treatment is carried out at the temperature of 1050°C-1400°C.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to provide for surface strengthening of jewellery items from platinum or platinum-based alloys and to increase their wear resistance without reduction in fineness and deterioration of appearance.
