FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: method of start of gas turbine engine includes kinematical connection by means of coupling of a compressor rotor of the engine with a turbine starter, actuation of a compressor rotor rotation from the turbine starter, its snapping back by the turbine starter to preset frequency of rotation and detachment of kinematical connection between a turbo-compressor and an engine compressor rotor by means of coupling disabling. A device with controlled gear ratio is included in a kinematical chain between the turbine starter and the compressor rotor; upon engine start during snapping back by the turbine starter of the compressor rotor frequency of the compressor rotor rotation is measured; by preset dependence in relation to frequency of rotation of a free turbine and frequency of rotation of the compressor rotor a control signal is generated which controls gear ratio of the device with controlled gear ratio; value of frequency of rotation of the compressor rotor is compared to its preset frequency, and if they are equal, the coupling is disabled.
EFFECT: invention allows reducing time of start of the gas turbine engine due to provision of preset power supplied via a reduction gear to the compressor rotor.
