SUBSTANCE: method of monitoring the volume (total) microbiological activity of water in the process flow includes: adherence to the process flow of flow-through cell with an inlet and an outlet for fluid medium, a sensor of dissolved oxygen (DO), and the purifying device and a valve connected to the cell, measuring of concentration of DO in the said process flow in the conditions of a free flow with the open valve, and in the conditions of stopped flow with the closed valve; the calculation of DO Δ between data obtained in different flow conditions; establishment of correlation between the value of DO Δ and volume (total) microbiological activity of water in the process flow. At that, before each measurement the sensor surface of DO is purified. The group of inventions relates also to a method of adjustment of the volume (total) microbiological activity of water in the process flow on the basis of obtained data of observation by addition to the process flow of one or more oxidising or non-oxidizing biocides.
EFFECT: measurement of microbiological activity under conditions typical for the environment, without the use of chemical agents.
