SUBSTANCE: method of monitoring of the microbial activity of water related to the surface in a process flow comprises: attaching to the process flow of flow cell with the inlet and outlet openings for fluid medium, a sensor of dissolved oxygen (DO), and a cleaning device and a valve, connected to the cell, measurement of DO concentration in the said process flow before and after the cleaning the surface of the sensor of DO, calculation of Δ DO of the data obtained before and after the cleaning the surface of the sensor of DO, establishing the correlation between the value of Δ DO and the microbial activity of water related to the surface in the process flow. The group of inventions relates also to a method of regulation of microbial activity of water related to the surface in the process flow based on the obtained observation data by adding to the process flow of one or more oxidising or non-oxidising biocides.
EFFECT: measurement of microbial activity in conditions typical for the environment, without the use of chemical reagents.
