FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine industry, in particular to the machines for harvesting potatoes. The method of harvesting potatoes includes a digging machine aggregated with the tractor. The digging machine has a trailing metering hopper. Depending on the condition and composition of the mixture of tubers, soil and pile, with the grading conveyor the access to the metering hopper is closed and the mass descending from the elevator is directed through the valves for direct bagging. Or access for the mass to the metering is opened and through its unloading valve the unloading is carried out to the ground in a pile for later grading and bagging. Or omitting the grading conveyor and the metering hopper, the mass is thrown in the field for subsequent collection and bagging from the excavated rows.
EFFECT: invention provides increased efficiency of potato harvesting due to the ability to choose the collection scheme depending on the composition of the mixture mass at different soil and climatic conditions.
