FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: seismic source consists of a hollow closed cylinder, having a reversible piston electric-hydraulic drive with a pulling rod and a pneumatic cylinder, which is filled through a spool-type pneumatic valve with pre-compressed gas, an impact piston-hammer which is detachably linked to the pulling rod by an automatic grip-release mechanism, a radiating piston-anvil whose rear side is in contact with the borehole fluid, and a conical wave reflector, placed opposite radiating openings at the end of the cylinder housing.

EFFECT: cyclic conversion of elastic energy of pre-compressed gas into pressure pulse energy in the borehole fluid, which is radially directed into rocks of the interwell space.
