FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of separating a mixture of methyl chloride and methylchlorosilanes obtained during synthesis of methylchlorosilanes from silicon and methyl chloride. Disclosed is a method in which a condensate of methyl chloride and methylchlorosilanes is collected separately from a high-temperature and a low-temperature condensation step and fed each into its own fractionation column. After high-temperature condensation, raw methylchlorosilanes are separated from the condensate and fed for further processing; a mixture rich in methyl chloride is also separated and fed into a methyl chloride separation column along with the low-temperature condensation condensate. Pure methyl chloride, which is reused for synthesis of methylchlorosilanes, and a mixture rich in methylchlorosilanes, which is returned to the methylchlorosilane separation column for re-separation along with the high-temperature condensation condensate, are obtained on the methyl chloride separation column.

EFFECT: setting quality requirements for only one of the products obtained on each of the columns of the double-column methyl chloride and methylchlorosilane separation scheme enables to reduce total power consumption by at least 25% compared to the existing method while improving process control and ensuring higher and more stable quality of the obtained methylchlorosilanes and methyl chloride, independent of the composition of the starting vapour-gas mixture.
