FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: water is alkanised with NaOH to pH=7.5-8.5. Mercury and partially zinc are precipitated with sodium sulphide. The formed suspension is filtered. The filtrate is alkanised to pH=8.5-10.5 with NaOH solution. The formed suspension is filtered. The purified waste water is discharged into the sewage system.
EFFECT: reducing mercury and zinc concentration in treated water to the maximum allowable level.
