SUBSTANCE: what is presented is a group of inventions which refers to medicine, namely to oncology. What is presented is using 40-O-(2-hydroxyethyl)-rapamycin for treating pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours and treating invasive pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours or symptoms associated with the above tumour growth. What is also presented is a pharmaceutical composition containing 40-O-(2-hydroxyethyl)-rapamycin, together with at least one pharmaceutically acceptable excipient for treating pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours. The above tumours can represent islet cell tumour, apudoma, insulinoma, glucagonoma, nonfunctioning neuroendocrine pancreatic tumour, neuroendocrine pancreatic tumour, gastrinoma associated with hypercalcemia, viloma, GRFoma. 40-O-(2-Hydroxyethyl)-rapamycin may be used for advanced tumours following the failed cytotoxic chemotherapy as a monotherapy, and a dose of 40-O-(2-hydroxyethyl)-rapamycin is 10 mg/day. 40-O-(2-Hydroxyethyl)-rapamycin for therapeutic applications may be used with at least one second drug substance, wherein the above substance may be either somatostatin, or an analogue of somatostatin, or octreotide.

EFFECT: use of this preparation including as a part of a pharmaceutical composition effective for treating the pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours and treating invasive pancreatic endocrine tumour, or symptoms associated with the tumour growth.
