FIELD: weapons and ammunition.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of small arms, namely, to a powder charge for light-gas weapons or firearms. The powder charge comprises a hydride and a substance containing water in bound or crystal-hydrate condition or releasing water during its thermal decomposition, for instance, pyroxylin, or the substance releasing water during its thermal decomposition, and substance releasing oxygen during its thermal decomposition. The charge is designed for placement in the charging powder chamber or cartridge case exploding from inner pressure.
EFFECT: invention provides for high initial speed of a projectile, structural simplification of a weapon, increased rate of fire, lower weight of a weapon and cost per shot.
