SUBSTANCE: recording medium contains recorded playlist information, each including a stream table which includes multiple stream elements. Each audio stream is encoded in one of a compulsory format, which is an encoding format decodable by a player with any version number, and an optional format which is an encoding format decodable by a player with a given or higher version number. In a first-type stream table, a stream element corresponding to an audio stream encoded in the optional format is the next in line to a stream element which corresponds to an audio stream encoded in the compulsory format. An audio stream encoded in the optional format and an audio stream encoded in the compulsory format are encoded from the same audio source and have the same language code and the same number of channels.

EFFECT: providing a recording medium which guarantees reproduction of an audio stream with an existing device if the stream element of the audio stream encoded in NAC is included in a stream number table.
