FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: side light-emitting device, having a substrate (101), a reflector (102) spaced apart from said substrate (101) and extending along the length of said substrate, and at least one light-emitting diode (103) arranged on said substrate and facing said reflector. Said substrate (101) and reflector (102) delimit a light-guiding region (104) for light emitted by said at least one light-emitting diode (103). No conversion of the wavelength of said light takes place on the light-guiding region (104). Said side light-emitting device further includes a wavelength-converting material (5) which is placed on the lateral edge of said light-guiding region (104).

EFFECT: invention provides a compact side emitting device with controlled colour radiation.
