FIELD: lighting.

SUBSTANCE: solid-state light emitting device comprises a source (101) of light configured to emit light of the primary (L1); a wavelength converting element (102) comprising a plurality of wavelength converting areas length (102a, 102b, 102c, etc.) to convert the primary light into secondary light (L2), wherein each transforming wavelength region thereby provides a full range of subband light output, wherein at least some of said wavelength converting areas arranged in an array and include quantum dots with different wavelength converting areas contain quantum dots having different ranges of secondary light radiation , providing different spectral subranges full light output, and wherein the subband, provided by each wavelength-converting region overlaps or is adjacent to at least one other sub-band provided by the other wavelength-converting region, said region-converting wavelengths providing together secondary light including all wavelengths of the range from 400 nm to 800 Nm.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to provide a light-emitting device which provides a continuous light output spectrum.
