FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy. Flatness, uniform mechanical properties as well as temperature and phase conversions in steel strip are ensured by furnishing the plunger-type unit with functional sets with cooling units. Note here that every said cooling unit comprises manifold 1 with several nozzles 3 arranged thereat, two plunger tubes 4 arranged parallel with manifold 1 on its opposite ends while adjacent ends of two plunger tubes are stopped. Two plunger tubes are communicated with nozzles via through holes made in their walls. Note here that two plungers 5 displace axially in plunger tubes to stop said through holes. Note also that OD of plungers and plunger tube ID mate. Proposed device comprises several plunger drives 7 to produce laminar flow to comply with cooled strip width at lower coolant consumption.
EFFECT: flatness, uniform mechanical properties as well as temperature and phase conversions in steel strip.
