FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, particularly, to coolers used in steel strip rolling. Flatness and uniform mechanical properties across steep strip is ensured by using nozzle units, each being provided with manifold 1 secured perpendicular to strip feed direction, inlet water pipe 2 connected to manifold 1, some nozzles 3 arranged regularly and axially at manifold 1. Every said unit has two pistons 5 arranged at two end sections of manifold 1 to contact with manifold inner surface and drive including a screw running in bearings 41. Said screw has sections with opposite thread whereat two pistons 5 with appropriate inner thread are fitted. Note here that every said unit has two axial guide pins and axial guide slots made at pistons 5 and inner walls of manifold 1, and motor 10 coupled with said screw via two engaged gears 9, 11. Note here that gear 9 is fitted on motor shaft.

EFFECT: flatness and uniform mechanical properties.
