FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises the jobs that follow: (a) aligning workpiece of thermally expanded graphite with specific density not exceeding 0.06 g/cm3 and carbon fiber composed of, at least, one compacted bundle. (b) filling reinforced workpiece produced at step (a) with powder of thermally expanded graphite to produce a package containing 9-30 wt % of carbon fiber with thermally expanded graphite making the rest. (c) rolling the package in compliance with step (b) to reach package density of 0.7-0.9 g/cm3. (d) cutting the package in compliance with step (c) in cut-to-length sections. (e) coiling of the latter in compliance with step (d) and (f) squeezing the rings produced at step (e) to obtain sealing rings. Invention covers also sealing ring thus produced.
EFFECT: reliable seal for high-temperature applications.
