FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in chemical industry. Hydrochloric acid solution is added to an aqueous mixture of liquid glass with volume ratio of liquid glass to water of 1:(2.5-3), while stirring, until achieving pH 6-6.5. A suspension of silicic acid is subjected to wet grinding. Silicic acid powder is then washed with water and divided into fractions. Absence of chloride ions in the washing water is checked by reaction on silver nitrate. Wet fractions of the powder are dried in two steps: at the first step the powder is held at temperature of 105-110°C for 2-3 hours; temperature of the drying chamber is then raised to 220-250°C and said temperature is maintained until achieving constant mass.
EFFECT: invention simplifies the technique and reduces power consumption when producing filter powder based on silicon dioxide.
