FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: conveyor hearth furnace comprises reduction zone for heating and reducing carbon composite sinters (C) for making reduced sinters (D) with iron metallisation degree of 80% or higher, alkaline metal removal zone located downstream of reduction zone for heating reduced sinters in reducing atmosphere and removing alkaline metals from reduced sinters for making reduced sinters not containing alkaline metals, and hardening zone located downstream of alkaline metal removal zone for heating reduced sinters not containing alkaline metals in oxidising atmosphere and increasing crushing strength of reduced sinters not containing alkaline metals to obtain reduced iron as finished product.

EFFECT: high-strength reduced iron.
