FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: method of measuring the volumetric gas flow rate, in which perpendicular to the direction of gas flow a conductor is placed through which a predetermined current is imposed. The change in the voltage drop on the conductor is measured, which depends on the flow rate. From the measured voltage value the rate is determined by calculation. Then, based on certain assumptions about the velocity distribution over the cross section of the pipeline the volumetric gas flow is calculated. At that in a flow an additional predetermined amount of conductors is placed which are at predetermined distances from each other along and across the direction of flow and rotated relative to each other at predetermined angles, at each of which a predetermined current flows. At that the additional conductors with the conductor available initially form the volumetric grid overlying the channel cross-section at a predetermined length along the direction of the flow. And the voltage drop is measured on each conductor, depending on the distribution of the gas flow rate along the length of the respective conductor. Then the field of resistance of the installed conductors is restored by the methods of computer tomography. Then the flow velocity field is determined by calculation, and then the volumetric gas flow through the pipeline is calculated by integrating on the cross-sectional area.
