FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to techniques of extracting metal ions from water via reactant treatment of water and floatation extraction of treatment products and can be used in treating different types of water. The method involves feeding a floatation agent/collector into the water before treatment, the floatation agent/collector used being fibrillated cellulose fibres in amount of 100 pts.wt per 200-3500 pts.wt of particles of metal compounds, followed by extraction of metals in form of particles of their insoluble compounds by treating the water with a substance or substances selected from calcium hydroxide, sodium carbonate, sodium hydroxide and sodium phosphate, floatation of the agent with the collected particles to form a layer of floatation sludge and removing said layer from the surface of the water.
EFFECT: invention enables to purify water from a wide range of metal ions and provides a continuous process of extracting metals from water.
