SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of producing a polymer as well as a hot-melt adhesive, a coating, an elastic film, a resin for making a powder coating and a water-dispersible polymer for aqueous coating compositions. The method involves re-esterification of a modifying monomer with a condensation polyester which includes a plurality of monomer components, without decomposition of the condensation polyester into its monomer components to obtain the end polymer, having higher final molecular weight. The modifying monomer is not one of the monomer components, has more than two reactive groups which include hydroxyl, and molecular weight below 1500 Da, and is also capable of participating in re-esterification reactions.
EFFECT: advantage of said method lies in a considerably shorter process duration, reduced amount of wastes, higher coefficient of processing polyethylene terephthalate and obtaining polymers with higher final molecular weight with low power and time consumption.
