FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method of local energy supply to an air flow flowing around an object includes usage of a reaction of fuel burning, for instance, hydrogen or hydrocarbon gas and electric discharge for acceleration of the burning reaction. Flows of the hydrogen-containing fuel and air into the ignition zone are supplied separately, combined in the ignition zone, previously - upstream the ignition zone - the hydrogen-containing fuel is sent via the zone of electric glow discharge, in which the ratio between intensity of electric field E and gas pressure P is set as equal to:
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to ignite hydrocarbon fuel at temperatures close to room temperature and pressures below the atmospheric value, to increase speed of hydrocarbon fuel burning, which is important for such engines as scramjets.
