SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to veterinary medicine and aims at reducing lipid absorption. What is declared is a food composition or dietary supplement for reducing lipid absorption in a domestic animal such as a dog or cat, a method for preparing the same, a method for reducing lipid absorption, and a method for reducing animal's body fat. The food composition or dietary supplement contains alkanol amides of fatty acids which are N-oleoyl-ethanolamide and/or (Z)-(R)-9-octadecenamide N-(2-hydroxyethyl,1-methyl) in an amount of 1 to 40 wt % of the food composition and 1 to 80 wt % of the dietary supplement. The declared method comprises feeding the above animal with the food composition or dietary supplement which is prepared by mixing one or more ingredients suitable for consumption by an animal with said alkanol amides of fatty acid taken in an amount of 1 to 40 wt % of the food composition, or 1 to 80 wt % of the dietary supplement.

EFFECT: using the group of inventions provides the effective reduction of lipid absorption in the animal's small intestine that results in reducing lipids available to become fat in an animal's body that reduces animal's body fat, body weight and/or weight gain.
