FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: double-frequency probing signal whose spectrum contains spectral components concentrated near frequencies f1 and f2 is emitted towards the assumed location of the object, and a backscattering signal in a frequency range close to frequencies f1 and f2 is received. The probing signal with frequency f2 has amplitude modulation with frequency F, and presence of an object containing a nonlinear element in the detection zone is indicated by the appearance of amplitude modulation with frequency F in the spectral component, the spectrum of which is concentrated near frequency f1.
EFFECT: high efficiency of detecting objects containing nonlinear elements.
