FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method involves monitoring displacement of a laser beam reflected from a freely falling body using a video camera, calculating the angle of deviation of the laser beam from the vertical using the recorded video and correcting the direction of the beam in the required direction.
EFFECT: high accuracy of inserting a laser beam vertical line in a ballistic gravimeter, reduced error in measuring the magnitude of gravitational acceleration, reduced sensitivity to vibroseismic noise.
