SUBSTANCE: invention relates to retractable footstep mechanisms for furniture articles. The ratchet element of the furniture article footstep intended for temporary retention of the footstep unit in slightly protruded positions excludes an integral uniform element with the first part including cavities each of them determining a projected position of the footstep unit. The second part has a male engageable tag. The third part has the opposite spaced first and second engagement elements with a bracket. The third part resiliently declines relative to the first and second parts enabling acceptance of the furniture mechanism bracket between the first and the second engagement element s with a bracket when the male engageable tag of the second part engages with the furniture article bracket, ensuring movement arresting with the help of the ratchet mechanism of the first and second parts relative to the third part.

EFFECT: simplified design without reduction of reliability.
