FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine. traumatology and orthopaedics. There are involved X-ray imaging and knee joint geometry assessment by studying the X-ray pattern to calculate the angles of a triangle described by central points of contact areas of lateral and medial condyles (LC and MC) of tibia, and by the centre of tibial tuberosity. If the LC and MC angles diverge, an anatomical deformation of the condyle of tibia which is an indication for osteotomy is stated. What is also determined is an angle between a line drawn through central points of the contact areas of lateral and medial condyles of femur, and a line drawn through contact areas of lateral and medial condyles of tibia. If the angle appears to diverge, a functional deformation which is an indication for the capsular ligament repair (CLR), is stated. The anatomical deformation angle is equal to the divergence of the angle between the angle of the line drawn through the central points of the contact areas of lateral and medial condyles of tibia and the anatomical axis of tibia, through the centre of tibial tuberosity and an apex of tibial intercondyloid fossa.

EFFECT: method provides the differential assessment of gonycampsis and the choice of surgical management in gonarthrosis taking into account the anatomical deformation of tibia and the functional deformation of capsular ligament apparatus, with determining a specific angle of correction in osteotomy and reducing the number of post-therapeutic secondary deformations of knee joint.
