FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: radionuclide radiation source for gamma-ray flaw detection includes a sealed vanadium capsule containing, as the radiating substance, an irradiated selenium-vanadium alloy, the irradiated selenium-vanadium alloy further containing at least one rare-earth element selected from: lanthanum, cerium, samarium, neodymium and gadolinium, with the following ratio of components, wt %: vanadium 13-20, rare-earth element selected from: lanthanum, cerium, samarium, neodymium and gadolinium 0.01-0.1, selenium - the balance.

EFFECT: reduced intensity of interaction of the selenium-based radiating substance with the vanadium capsule, high production output of non-defective radiation sources, providing integrity, shape stability and stability of the radiation source based on a gamma-radioactive isotope of selenium.
