FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to sources of gamma-radiation. Production of gamma-radiation source includes stages, at which unsuitable material is provided, which is combination of suitable and unsuitable isotopes, then unsuitable material is converted into suitable material by removing unsuitable isotopes of unsuitable material leaving only suitable isotopes. Then selenium-74 is mixed with suitable material, mixture is heated to cause reaction between components and reaction product is subjected to subsequent irradiation for converting of at least part of selenium-74 into selenium-75. Production of gamma-radiation source can also include steps, at which at least one other suitable material is added to mixture. This at least one other suitable material can be added to mixture before heating of mixture. Unsuitable materials can be selected from group consisting of: zinc, titanium, nickel, zirconium, ruthenium, iron, silver, indium, thallium, samarium ytterbium, germanium and iridium.
EFFECT: possibility to create materials used for production of gamma-radiation source, not causing long-term spurious radiation.
