FIELD: nuclear equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear engineering, primarily to production of gamma-ray sources used in various industries, for example, gamma-ray flaw detection for radiographic inspection. Technical result in proposed method of producing vanadium selenide is achieved by mixing fine powders of selenium and vanadium with particle size of not more than 200 mcm and subsequent two-stage thermal treatment in inert sealed container.
EFFECT: task of the proposed technical solution is reduction of labor intensity and time of the process of obtaining vanadium selenide VSe2 to form an active part of gamma-radiation sources, simplification of process equipment and improvement of process safety.
