FIELD: power engineering.

SUBSTANCE: to produce a multi-layer tape for a fuel element, powders of initial components of an exothermal mixture are mixed, and the specified mixture is activated in a mechanical activator for 4.5 - 10 minutes with centrifugal acceleration of movement of balls from 30 to 90 g and the ratio of the mixture mass to the mass of balls equal to 1:20-40. The activated mixture is formed as a single-layer tape by means of rolling of the mixture via rollers with linear speed of roller rotation of not more than 200 mm/min. Then the single-layer tape is glued into a multi-layer one, preferably in the form of 2-3 layers.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to simplify the method of fuel element multi-layer tape production.
