FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal powder industry, particularly, to metal aliminides-based powder materials production by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) method. The invention may be used for producing high-density items for engineering and tooling purposes. Aluminium and nickel oxide or titanium oxide powders are mixed up in amounts suitable for producing nickel or titanium aluminides with stoichiometric composition. In addition, at least, one additive is also mixed up, which is selected from magnesium, magnesium perchlorate, calcium peroxide, sodium chloride, aluminium oxide. As a result, exothermic mixture is produced. The mixture is placed in SHS reactor and burning processes is initiated in the inert environment under inert gas pressure no more than 1 MPa. The combustion reaction product is subject to chemical treatment in the diluted solution of hydrochloric acid or sulphuric acid at 60-80°C under continuous mixing with target product releasing.

EFFECT: methods allows for increasing degree of target product powder dispersion, it content, purity and yield.
