FIELD: radio engineering, communication.
SUBSTANCE: weakly directional antenna has a circular metallic waveguide and further includes a screen in form of a conducting truncated inverted cone. The outer surface of the screen is coated with a polymer coating, parameters of which are defined by the arrangement conditions of the antenna. The plane of the small based of the truncated inverted cone coincides with the plane of the open end of the waveguide. The larger base is situated behind the open end of the waveguide. An opening is made on the axis of the conducting truncated inverted cone to mount the waveguide. The diameter of that opening is equal to the outer diameter of the waveguide. The antenna is easy to make and has beam width BW0.3 close to 90°. The conical shape of the antenna with a cross dimension which gradually increases backwards from the aperture enables to fit into aircraft radiotransparent radomes that are close to cornered and are aerodynamically beneficial or easy to assemble, or mount the antenna in an open stream.
EFFECT: improved beam pattern.
